Once upon a time, some eight years ago, the Nissan GT-R was almost impossible to beat in a straight line, regardless of price. However, as the years went by, competitors become much quicker while Godzilla’s acceleration only improved marginaly.

Among the newest and briskest vehicles on the market is the 2017 Acura NSX and fresh off a surprising victory against the Lamborghini Aventador, one was recently matched up to a 2016 GT-R in a quarter mile sprint.

On paper, the two are very surprisingly matched. The NSX uses a twin-turbocharged V6 engine joined by three electric motors and delivering a total of 573 hp. By comparison, the 2016 GT-R’s 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6 pumps out 545 hp. To ensure optimum traction, both have advanced all-wheel drive systems and automatic transmissions.

Despite those similarities, the NSX immediately gets a jump off the line, largely due to the instantaneous torque provided by its electric motors. But we won't (further) spoil the surprise for you.
